The law on Crowdfunding, or participatory financing, has just been adopted by the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP).
Law No. 2020-37, dated August 6, 2020, aims to regulate crowdfunding activities. This financing model provides the necessary funds for projects and companies that express their financial needs.
This new model is clearly outlined in the law and seeks to establish a financing mechanism based on raising funds from the public through a dedicated online platform. These funds can be used to finance projects, companies, or even to provide donations.
A funding control mechanism has been established to combat suspicious financing. It will be overseen by the ARP's Finance, Planning, and Development Commission, the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), and the Financial Market Council (CMF).
Thus, crowdfunding is a new financing mechanism designed to foster investment and support business creation.
